There comes a time in every young adult’s life when it is time to leave the comfort of mom
and dad’s home and venture out into the world on your own. While there is so much
excitement at the thought of living life on your own, it is not as easy as you might think.
Between finding and moving into an apartment and buying your own groceries and paying
for electricity, moving out is quite a big step.
While moving out into a place of your own and officially ‘adulting’ is a slightly daunting
experience, once you get into the groove of things, it becomes second nature. But there are
two very important unmissable hurdles you need to cross before living your best life: Mom
and Dad.
Trying to convince your parents to let you move out into a place of your own may seem like
a tedious obstacle to overcome, but it is important to remember how difficult this will be for
them; emotionally and perhaps financially. When pitching the idea to your parents it is
imperative you come prepared with a few apartments or flats in mind as well as a budget
regarding rent and amenities.
The final step is preparing them emotionally for their not-so little one leaving the nest and
fending for themselves. Carefully reassuring your parents that you will be okay moving out
and living by yourself is a skill which may take some practice but will benefit you and your
parents in terms of their decision making. A little sucking up and chore-doing doesn’t hurt
either when showing them you’ll be fine.
With a little compassion and determination on your side, parents can be won over and soon
enough you will be living a parent-free life filled with bills. On the bright side you’ll be able
to walk around in your new home naked, am I right?
