Summer is fast approaching (or at least, we hope), and what better way to spend a Summer’s day than at the beach? Picture white, sandy beaches, a cool Atlantic breeze, and just the right amount of sunlight. After a hectic exam period, Cape Town’s gems would definitely be worth the effort UCT makes us go through. With so many places to choose from, where does one even start when planning a day out at the beach? Fear not, help is at hand. Here are some popular beaches which are sure to help you out in that department:
If it’s a sea side picnic you have in mind, or maybe you’re in need of some “me time”; you will find all the serenity you need at Sea Point.
Blouberg has one of the most picturesque views of Table Mountain. You’ll take some of the most memorable seaside pictures here. How about a braai after a busy day? When you’re done, you can watch the sunset.
Hout Bay Beach
Famous for its beachside restaurants, Hout Bay is ideal for a day out with friends. The best thing is, you don’t have to cater at all. The restaurants offer a variety that can accommodate even your Aunty who is never impressed by anything. Ever. Once the occasion is over, you can soak up the golden sun.
Boulders Beach, Simon’s Town
One word: Penguins at Boulder’s Beach. You’ve seen them on NatGeo, now you can see them live. Simon’s Town is excellent for sight-seeing. This beach is ideal for exploring. Word of advice though: keep all your food items packed. Please feed the penguins with caution. Please.
The sun never looked so good, the beach never looked so great, and the wind never rushed this smoothly. Whether it’s a party, a day out, watching the sunset or an afternoon walk with bae, Clifton has got you covered. If you want to show off your volleyball skills, Clifton is the place for you. It is ideal for any event, at any time of the day.
Knowing which beach to go to is a matter of national importance. It could mean the difference between a superb day by the sea side or a “what were we doing there” reaction. So, regardless of which seaside you choose, please beach responsibly.
